**The Mascari Family pays the tab at The Lark, and makes starts to make their way to their chambers. As they are walking back and discussing how to address the Baraza Ku, they overhear from some nearby Walezi how there was a recent attack against 6 Walezi members who had been found deceased in an alley near the Coliseum. The group determined this attack happened while they had been inside the Central Governance building, and therefor wouldn’t be suspects.
The family made their way to the resting chambers, passing two Walezi guards per suite on their way. They discovered there were two more guards outside of their chambers as well, but noticed something was off about their appearance. Once inside, the family was quick to decompress and separate for the evening, each finding their own way to relax. Dugby made his way to the couch with a crackling fire. Tormin, Carlo, and Emmy each adjourned to their chambers for some self reflection and communication with their deities. AAA made his way to the door of their suite, and put himself into his sentry state, becoming ever vigilant, yet restoring his energy. He also reached out with his magic sense, attempting to read the minds of the guards blocking the door to find… nothing. Not a single surface thought was detected by AAA, indicating the Walezi outside were incapable of thought, currently had no thoughts… or had honed their minds and were suppressing their thoughts as to not alert the family inside.
At the beginning of the night, AAA focused his senses on that of hearing, listening for any minor movement outside the door. Aside from the rustling of armor from the restless guard’s the night was still… until a near silent metallic click caused AAA to take flight. The doorlock had been picked but the guards outside the door, and 2 began making their way into the Mascari Family’s chambers. AAA catches the family off guard, covering one of the attackers in his web, and laying a trap for any that would try to enter without first looking down.
A stream of fire came bursting through the door and arching up straight at AAA, and the room burst to life with activity. Dugby sprang to his feet and unleashed a devastating sun beam at the enemy, blinding them and burning those trapped by the web. A mage in non-walezi clothes used the bodies that stumbled into the web as lilly pads, clearing the trap and unleashing her next spell… chain lightning. A thunderous boom erupted from the chambers and the lightning was unleashed, nearly burning Dugby to a crisp. A lengthy battle ensued, nearly claiming the lives of Dugby and Shadow. Volt debuts her ferocity, freezing limbs and clawing faces in an effort to defend the family that just adopted her. Emmy made her way to the hall during the fight, and called for help. And during all of this, Tormin and Solace worked together to heal those that were injured, and bring devastation to those that sought to harm the family.
The Mascari family brought the invading Walezi guard to their end, and just as the looting began, Wendolin Burgess arrived in the room personally to assess the situation. After a quick discussion about the events that led up to the attack, it was discovered that the 6 guards that were killed and looted earlier that evening had impersonated the 6 guards who would have been posted in this hallway. Wendolin confirmed this by inspecting the stolen Walezi guard uniform to find the name “Roman”, a guard she is familiar with. Carlo inquired as to the rules of hospitality and questioned if the Baraza Ku had broken this rule. Wendolin informed Carlo that hospitality ensures that the host will provide food, lodging, and will cause no harm to those invited under hospitality. Because the attackers assumed the armor of the Walezi and impersonated them, and was not an actual representative of the Baraza Ku or those under the Baraza Ku’s command, hospitality was not broken. Wendolin expressed her sincerest apologies for this attack, assuring something like this has never happened before, and will not happen again. She is also insisting that the family request an item that would aid them most, and she would personally pull something that could fit their request from the collection of Alicia Laurel. Of final note, upon inspecting the attackers, Wendonlin hints that they had been potentially been altered by “The Stitcher”, hence their haunting appearance. The Stitcher has been known to alter the appearance of individuals, although it is unknown how this process takes place. Her name has been seen in association with the Ricattatore family. This piece of information is not known by anyone, other than those of significant power. The session ended here, the family gaining 7,500 XP for their trouples.**
